Inside the mind of a couch potato

aargh, its only 3 hours past dinner, and im hungry as a lion. that's one thing i hate about sembreaks, i tend to eat a lot. I tell myself na lang na i will eventually lose the excess baggage when i go back to school.

Watched miss match last night... im drooling over Alicia's outfits. Plus, ang guwapo nung guy. Also watched some movies Liz lent me (to be returned on Christmas). Nakakagutom yung Tortilla SOup. mexican food.. yum yum... made me miss Oz a lot. i must say, the ending was funny. also seen The Debut... haha.. it tried its best to capture Pinoy culture.. it succeeded somehow with the barrel man and the big spoon and fork decor. Upon watching it, i realized that we dont really have our own culture.. i mean, yung distinctively PInoy. everything is copied from another country...China, Spain, and even from the muslims ( tinikling dance)..

i asked sushi girl to make me a write up for my yearbook and she agreed. YAY. such an angel. sushi... shit, gutom na talaga ako.

there's nothing left to do.. and this is possibly the most boring post i ever wrote. i am becoming a total bore.

AM's Random thoughts
- pantene shampoo is really effective

- gusto kong magkaroon ng sarili kong reality tV! or join exra challenge.

- nakaka LSS ang yeye vonnel ni april boy... dang, sana wag nang patugtugin yun sa commercials ng ABS...
- Yay.. natanggal na yung pangit na contestant sa Born Diva. I didnt expect her early demise.. considering that she has the highest number of votes. my dad concluded: marami shang kamag anak. I would agree.
- reema, galing galing. Minus the horrible pronunciation of words, i think her rendition of Christina's Fighter is superb.
- i looooove shanice michaels.. galing nung WOrk it out nya.. go, dark child...

why is Bush being depicted as a moron? I watched Conan o brien kanina and he was making fun of him.. guess he's just a democrat... but shoot, sayang si Kerry.

right now, i want to change my name to something more exotic. something like, Viviana or Brooke or Penelope..

im bored with myself. Stop this now

tell me who your friends are, and i will tell you who you are.

please abduct me now.

i'm so bored, im falling off my seat. my stomach is upset for no apparent reason, baka nagdadrama lang. my brother was watching a silverchair concert sa DVD and he told me na Daniel Johns is the husband of Natalie Imbruglia... Maybe its just a rumor. (oops, i just checked this out and apparently, this is true)

I miss my friends. I read samantha's blog yesterday and i found out that she left her school to pursue medical studies in the states. it was a surprise, really. i never thought that it would be this soon, although i did expect genna to make drastic moves. She's quite known for being the unpredictable one.

let me tell you about my friends. ( my so called Sex and the City circle)

carrie- my bestfriend. The Goddess Biatch and the fairest of us all. Back in High school, we had this Love- Hate friendship. we would fight a lot because i was the kontrabida (as always)in her relationships. I hated all her boyfriends... you see, even in High school, i had this gift of reading auras. I kind of know who the good guy is as well as the bad guy. In the course of 4 years and more than 5 boyfriends, I only liked one guy for her, and she ended up dumping him because according to her, he loves her too much. Kind of makes me think she has some grudge against my judgment. Right now, she has a boyfriend of 3 years, who I, as expected, loathe with all my heart. BUt good news is, we dont fight anymore. After i had my share of love crap, i became more "understanding". PLus, i got tired of convincing her to dump him... such a waste of energy.
Lovelife: 1 main meal and several side dishes
Boy Pattern: the bad guy.
the story of her life: boyfriends and breakups
Future Job: gorgeous chef

Samantha- my shrink. the most elusive and unpredictable among the four of us. She's the oldest in our group but is the most restricted. at 20, her phone calls are still being screened by her mommy dearest. her parents are really strict, but im proud to say that even though we dont go to the same school, her parents still trust me... ( Samantha always drops my name whenever she goes out). At first glance, you may think that she's sugar and spice and everything nice but truth be told, she's got the most surprises under her belt, believe me. SHe's the darling, with her cute voice and awesome smile. Guys go ga-ga over her and i cant blame them, she's a natural charmer. Half the girl population loves her, the other half hates her for stealing away guys attention. Can't commit to a single guy... and when she does find a guy to take seriously, this guy is a total nightmare. Im sensing bad vibes here.
Lovelife: many to mention
Boy Pattern: sweet talking and adventurous guys
the story of her life: collect and collect and collect and collect....
Future Job: the Kikay-est Surgeon this side of the planet

Charlotte- my constant companion. Though she studies in Iloilo, its a surprise that she's the one i hang out with the most. The nicest friend anyone can ever have. SHe's a debater, writer, photographer and a basketball player rolled into one. She had a boyfriend back in high school and the relationship lasted for 2 weeks. the early demise due to her trip to the states. A real breakup is yet to take place. haha.
Lovelife: Zero.
Boy pattern: falls for the sweet, silent and pensive type
the story of her life: Guys say she's way too cool to be a girl. ---> one of the boys <---
Future Job: An ass- kicking executive working somewhere in Makati.

so there... i would rather not discuss myself.. because this entire blog is about me.

(actually, i suck at self-descriptions. i cant even make my own writeup for my yearbook)

toodles.

the 7 Day Itch

After 7 days of primitive living (no computer, no internet),im finally back in circulation. I must say, its great to be back. My Computer skills, as scant as they may be, are getting rusty.

What happened in those few days of wilderness? hmm, let me recount.

Thursday, October 28: Supposed to go out with Samantha, Carrie and Charlotte* for an italian inspired bonding. samantha, being absent the first gimmick, was the VIP that day. but ahem, ahem, SHe has to have her uniform fitting that day ( duh?!? uniform? that is so High school) so, the entire day was spoiled.

Friday, October 29: Hmmm, my good friend Tubby set a gimmick for us. Queer, Anime and Mamba were supposed to go too. the Octoberfest was finally coming to an end and as self-proclaimed beer chuggers, we just had to be there. 2 hours past call time, i was surprised to see Tubby sitting alone at Powerbooks cafe. Apparently, Anime was too tired to come and Mamba had a family dinner. Queer came late, (later than i did!!!) because he came all the way from Tagaytay. 10 pm, we decided to check out the "party". dude, the event should be renamed JOlogsfest. I swear, i have never seen so many people wearing leather. Its as if the goons in FPJ movies were having their reunion. the fashion there was quite interesting. Too sum it all up, it was Matrix GOne Wrong and Avril Lavigne stars as trinity. No shit.

Im not known for being patient and a lover of crowds ( i value my personal space, thank you.) so i was nagging Queer and Tubby to get the hell out of there. WE didnt exactly leave but we stayed at a rather "normal" resto and nestled our most anticipated beer. we went home at 1230, with Queer dying to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately, all the washrooms were full. he finally settled for the MMDA urinal somewhere near White Plains and after "unloading", he came to the conclusion that there is really "something better than sex".

OCtober 30, Saturday: went to Holy Cross (now Manila Memorial Park) to visit Nanay, Tatay and tito Vic.

October 31, Sunday: we were supposed to go to Himlayan but traffic was a bitch. went to Church instead. I saw Tootsie Roll, my elementary classmate and one time Kendeng Girl for Pera o Bayong.

NOvember 1, Monday: WOke up friggin early to go to Himlayan. Visited my Mama, my twin brothers, Lolo, and tito Lito. It wasnt so solemn because i slept for an hour inside the car. (blame my dad, he woke us up early)

November 2, Tuesday: got my grades... 3 surprises. Got 1.75 in BA 104 (the subject i didnt study for), 1.25 in law (made me reconsider taking up Law) and a measly 2 for my PI (PI ka talaga, MAranan!). The Sex and the City girls were supposed to meet up but surprise, Surprise! Samantha was a no-show. I still went to Charlotte's place and watched Eternal Sunshine, again.

November 3, Wednesday: didnt sleep because i had to line up for my thesis. our overnight thingymajiggy with Queer and Anime was botched and GOlfer, my thesis partner, picked me up at 2:30 am instead. Since we got dyahe being the first ones there, we drove around UP to let some time pass. when we decided to finally park the car, we saw Queer and his TP already there. By 3:20 am, we were the 3rd pair to come to school. Queer was drinking our Favorite Red Horse and got stupidly drunk that he spilled beer on Tubby and me. i had to ask my mom to bring me extra shirt (parang kinder!!!). I was able to finish everything in one day, the best enrolment ever.

wow... that's long. and to cap it all off, i watched the Classic, a Korean love story. I cried, which is totally expected of me. harhar.

this is getting too long. Moral of the story: Never ever let your computer crash. You'll miss it too much.

* Sorry, i cant think of a better codename for them

crash test dumb-me

our computer crashed yesterday. damn it. it erased all my friggin' files, including the files i have to turnover to sugar. now, im babysitting my lola's house... and im just using their computer to write.. darn it. it made me realize how dependent i am on computer. Should have had a back up.

Cleaning out my closet.

im crying again.

after several months of trying to purge sad feelings, i am finally letting genuine tears flow. As i've said, Sugarfree songs have a way of evoking hidden feelings. As i listened to their song, Kwarto, i had this sudden urge to open my hidden folder which has all our emails to each other. And like opening the Pandora's box, memories crept their way back in.

"Maglilinis ako ng aking kwarto
Na punong puno ng galit at damit
Mga bagay na hindi ko na kailangan
Nakaraang hindi na pwedeng pagpaliban..."

I just had to get it out of my system. I wanted to know if the feeling I had for him was real. This exercise let me clean out my closet, face my ghosts and say goodbye to the past.

I never hated him, even if i wanted to. He has this strange way of dissolving any hatred and angst i have. I love that about him. In fact, i love so many things about him.

"...Mga liham ng linihim kong pag ibig
At litrato ng kahapong maligalig
Dahan dahan kong inipon
Ngunit ngayon kailangan nang itapon..."

Two days ago, i took out a box of memories hidden under my dresser. I read some of the letters from high school friends. I also came across with letters and pictures. His pictures...his memories.

When things were not complicated between the two of us, we used to send each other emails. We asked for advice, recounted our frustrations in Math 100 and discussed my so-called love life and his undying love for me as his bestfriend. I still keep all of those emails. I guess i really wanted to hang on to those things...to serve as a proof that "we" existed... that once upon a time, we were genuinely in love...

"May jacket mong nabubulok sa sulok
Inaalikabok na sa lungkot
May panyong ilang ulit nang niluhaan
Isang patak sa bawat beses natayo'y nasaktan..."

I still have with me the ribbon and the goody box he gave me on my 18th birthday. Its sides are now dilapidated, almost worn out. My dad wanted me to throw it away, along with all the letters from my past. Many times, i would consider his suggestion. It's not a very special box, nor a rare ribbon. When i am about to throw it away, i always heave a deep sigh and tell myself, there's always a next time. Keeping your past abreast with your present wont hurt.

"Di ko na kayang mabuhay sa kahapon
Kaya mula ngayon, mula ngayon…"

well now that i am completely devoid of any romantic feelings for him, I decided that in order for me to fully move on, i have to leave some things behind. The boat is moving slower with all the excess baggages I have. I tried to reflect on my life and i came up with a decision: To throw him out to the river... to delete all his emails, burn all his pictures, erase all memories of him...

"Alaala ng lumuluhang kahapon
Dahan dahan ko na ring kinakahon
Natagpuan ko na ang tunay na ligaya
Lumabas ako ng kwarto't naron sya..."

I want to fall in love again. To test the waters and finally swim to the surface of this pool of tears i made out of all the reminiscing. I know i can do it... But i told myself i have to do it right. I will face my future without my past following me. I had to do this... Pause.

i stared at the question in front of me..

are you sure you want to empty the folder?

  • Empty
  • Dont Empty

I trembled. This is it. I have already proven to myself that, Yes, It was real. We fell in love and it's over.

"Magpapaalam na sa yo ang aking kwarto..."

I stopped crying, just about the same time the song Kwarto by Sugarfree stopped playing in my player. I guess, it just got tired of playing the song over and over again. God was sending me a signal here... leave him behind, erase all memories of him. Make a fresh start, You deserve it.

  • Cancel

... I can't do it. I just can't... in a few years time, i would forget his face, his name, his words... and these are the only things that will remind me that once, I was happy.

Never mind if i cry some times upon reading his emails or when his memories resurface. They were good ones, real ones.

Part of my eternal sunshine belongs to him. the mind may forget but the heart never does.

He belongs in my long term memory... and i will never try to place him anywhere else. I will fall in love again, but the feeling and lessons he imparted will always stay, as they all should be.

( the player started playing again... and this time, its playing a different tune. Martir, still by Sugarfree)

Kailan ka ba

Muling darating

Malapit na namang magtakipsilim

At kahit na ilang ulit mo akong saktan

Basta't sa susunod di mo na ako iiwan

... blank thoughts...

eternal sunshine of the mindless spot.

I am having my monthly visitor. It sucks. all i want to do is to sleep, eat, and sleep some more... But that is not possible. Well, it is, but like any normal girl will tell you, it's the second most uncomfortable feeling in the world (first is having wedgie).

I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I cried. Its so... im lost for words. I love the theme of the movie, Forgetting. Now, if only Lacuna Technologies were real, i bet most of us will be lining up to get its services.

But wait? would i really want to erase all my memories of thoushallnotbenamed? hmmm, knowing my impulsive nature, i would have... but im sure, i would have regretted it (but wait? i wont remember it..hmmm... interesting).

yay.

im officially a member of the sugarfree mailing list. im so addicted to the band.

i talked to thoushallnotbenamed about some stuff... its so nice to be friends with him again.

of all the things we shared, its the way i feel when were together that i miss the most.

when will i get my eternal sunshine?

like a lamb to the slaughter.

Not as Woman as I want to be.

She's Always A Woman

She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child
But she's always a woman to me
She can lead you to live
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free
She steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me
Oh, she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind
She will promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But she'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause she's always a woman to me
She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
But she can't be convicted
She's earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me

That Bitter Sugar.

Sugarfree was on RX again.

What can i say, those guys simply rock. I dont know how they were able to do it, but they made me fall in love again.

The lyrics were so wonderfully honest, just like the first album, but this time, they're happier and more optimistic.

feeling ko na naman, those songs are MY songs.

Nung Lumabas yung Sa Wakas, it was the time when my so-called "lovelife" ended. Most of the songs, I was able to relate to. SOngs of rejection, of sadness, of goodbye. I remember how the song Burnout and Unang Araw gripped my heart...

talk about honesty.

Their songs reflected my state of mind (and heart) during that time. I bought an album, I still listen to it when i have the time.

And he has one too.

Yun ang gusto ko sa kanya.. sobrang pareho kami ng interest when it comes to music. Another band which often reminds me of him is Dishwalla. basta, something to do with Somewhere in the Middle.

haaay, nostalgia.

anyway, i was able to catch their performance unplugged via RX... and wow, they were making HAPPY songs now. the songs are still catchy, heartfelt and sincere.

WHen i heard Tulog na, i dont know why i cried but i did. its not that i still love him, far from it. pero siguro, memories caught up with me. Not that im running away from them.. wala lang. Sa sobrang daming nangyayari, new things just push our memories aside. siguro, it was flooded back to shore nung narinig ko yung Sugarfree songs.

Sana may magregalo sa akin ng Sugarfree album, Dramachine. Cause, Im missing all the Drama in my life.
