I think I just might be brain dead.
My brain’s not functioning as it should be. I have lost all desire to write anything of value (including this post).
How could I become I writer if I get mental blocks all the time?
Trivia! Trivia!
I used to dream about being a writer. I think that it was one of the more “realistic” dream jobs I had growing up. I was never the type who wished to have the normal job. I never wanted to be a doctor, a teacher, a boss or any other occupation most kids would normally like. MY childhood play-up/ dress-up would be that of the resident labandera, with her unruly hair and tube top. Or maybe that of the demure nun, in all her penguin suit (as seen from the hit movie, Sister Act). But my favorite role would be that of the “glamorous” manicurista/ hairdresser/ makeup artist (as you can deduce, I have a penchant for being gay). I guess that’s where I learned of my useless talent, braiding my own hair (but not others).
An article of mine was published when I was in first year college. It was all about the youth misunderstood. I don’t remember on what magazine it was published but it felt really great knowing that other people (aside from your friends, teachers, parents) are reading your article. It’s as if you connect with the rest of the world.
I had that feeling every time people would tell me they find my materials funny, inspiring, interesting. Talk about ego- boosting. I guess that’s the part that used to drive me into taking Journalism in college. Somewhere along the way, however, I just lost all the passion. Suddenly, I cant think of anything useful to say. I think that was some time in high school when I took up Creative Writing as my elective. My teacher, lets call him Dr. Evil (because he looks like the character), used to say that I had a lot of potential. Great style, witty remarks, but I’m too tamad to do anything. I remember his favorite article of mine was actually about the power of “metaphor”. I wrote something about two people having sex but I never mentioned the words sex, lovemaking, kissing or other words that would normally pertain to anything sexual. Sexual creature that he is, he appreciated the article so much he even read it in class (that embarrassed the hell out of me). Now, I wonder where all my articles have gone. Sayang. I know if I only saved all of them, I could have published my first ever book. Even two, I guess.
Anyway, by giving a trivia, I now have a complete post that actually means something! This is not gibberish after all.

Monday. Mundane. Mayday.
There are songs in my head that will clearly depict my current state of mind/affairs this morning.
SMILE LIKE YOU MEAN IT- the Killers
My day started out with tales from the party I didn’t attend. Don’t you just hate it when you get bombarded with stories that you can’t relate to? Not that I care, really. I never wanted to go in the first place because of several reasons which I like to clear out to the public, in an effort to avoid self- incrimination.
1. Budgetary constraints- I am flat broke, which, if you know me, is no longer a surprise. Considering my impulse behavior on shopping, I’m amazed that I’m not begging in the streets.
2. I miss my family- after the near death experience in Pico de Loro, I realized the meaning of the adage “live each day as if it were your last”. Now, I relish every moment spent with my kin. Its funny, I guess I’ve aged a lot since I started working. I don’t go out much, and if I do go out, I retire to bed early (when I say early, I mean 1 am- ish).
3. have I mentioned budgetary constraints?
I really wanted to have my day at the beach. Independent of some factors (which I’d rather not mention), I know that I would have enjoyed basking in the sun, taking pictures of myself and the calm waters and eating like there’s no tomorrow. But then again, tough times.
Going back to my story, it’s causing my face some serious damage forcing myself to smile and stay interested in stories which I have no frigging idea about. Feigning interest is a debacle in itself. Don’t force it.
I DON’T LIKE MONDAYS- Tori Amos
I really think that Monday should not be considered as a part of the work week.
Here are my points:
1. It’s impossible for people to go to work on time. The temptation of going back to your oh-so- comfortable bed is more enticing than the ugly sight of your pending paper work. It’s a common law of physics that the gravitational pull of the bed is stronger on Mondays. Never combat the laws of physics.
2. Traffic’s a bitch. It seems that people have the same thing in mind when they opted to put off the alarm clock for 5, 10, 15 more minutes. Now, everybody seems to be going to work at the same time causing colossal traffic that will force you to go back home (to your comfy bed) or be late at work.
3. Nobody’s productive on a Monday. It’s a given. Everybody will still be thinking about the weekend, what they did and what they wish they had done thus not focusing on the work at hand. Employees will be grouchy (for interrupting their weekend reverie/ fantasies), slow (probably because of the hang over), and totally absent minded (because their minds are off to where their bodies should be).
Thus, in order to decrease employee unproductiveness (I checked this on thesaurus, this is correct) and increase morale, working on Mondays should be optional, if not totally abolished.
I JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF- White Stripes
Once again, I am using company time to rant and update my blog. Although this is quite liberating, the cachet wears off after several hours of staring at your computer screen & faking toxicity. I had to centralize (organize my things) and decentralize (putting them back to disarray) just so that people wont accuse me of wasting manpower hours (which is actually true). I am not complaining, just hoping that I will not pay for it dearly. Knowing my luck, the chances of bad/ improbable things happening are HUGE. SO I’m guessing that the universe will eventually amass all my debts i.e. slacking off at work and I will end up in the streets with no job, maybe with a lawsuit even.
5 pm.
Time to go. Come to think of it, I’ve been nursing this post for the entire day.

Cradle Snatching & Hubris Showing

in fairness, bagay sila

Si Flamethrower at ang younger version ng crush ni flamethrower dati.. C.M.

pogi nitong batang to.

haaaay, itong batang to.. sayang, iho, di kita naabutan

exploited ka ngayon.. hehe.
at mga pictures during Adhoc event

sa banyo nagpicture-an

feeling!

sa MRT kami nito.. galing ano?

partida! naka Tshirt lang ako!
at pictures nung bday ko..

mukhang basahan na ako.. galing pa ako sa office.

oily kung oily

ang baba ng damit ko pero look at my bones! they're protruding! anorexic na ako.
...
huwaaaa! gusto ko ren mag sembreak..
Ayan, missing college na naman.
Isang kwentong shallow:
Never use cheap curlashes. bakit? kasi my old, ugly and dysfunctional curlash just chopped a portion of my lashes. pero ok lang, kasi di naman mashadong halata.
*trial and error naman talaga ang trabaho*
i told my friend Wonder Girl. Somehow, i find that true. Ika nga namin ni Mamba, its like everybody hates his first job. Andun kasi yung realization na work is not what you expect it to be. true true.
i dont know. im getting bored at my current job. i need a more dynamic environment. ayoko ng stagnant. ayoko ng routine. right now, im just finding everything i dont want, not necessarily what i want.
and my thoughts reverted back to him.
last time i was with him, i had to fight the urge to get a piece of fallen eyelash from his face. that would have been weird if i did it.
i dont know if my friends noticed, but my hair has grown into un-AM-ly proportion.
ang haba ng buhok ko, and i meant that literally. Sana nga figuratively but nooooooo!
ayan, muling nagbalik na naman ang isip ko sa kanya.
will somebody save me from MTB thoughts?
They're about to kill me.

Pinoy Big Brouhaha
I think im the only person not watching Pinoy Big Brother.
Most people i know have strong opinions on this new hit show by ABS CBN. its either they love it or totally hate it. I, on the otherhand, have none.
I would like to be objective on the issue so i tried watching, eavesdropping, reading about it. In fairness, the show has a lot of addictive substance to it. There's an FHM model babe who says DUDE like there's no tomorrow. There's the Middle Eastern expat who talks funny and acts even funnier. There's the teacher who nobody cares about. The flamboyantly flirty girl, the handsome toothpaste model and other interesting characters. And yes, there's "big brother" who tries in vain to remain anonymous/ mysterious. There's no point actually, considering everybody knows he's Lauren Dyogi anyway.
So aside from making fun of the housemates (making them wear Showgirl costumes, whats up with that?), what else does this show do?
Just like any other reality shows, Pinoy Big Brother reveals how people act when they know they're being watched, and how they act when they think that nobody's watching.
True colors. The 21st Century Filipinos. Lots of kissing, Sex innuendo 24/7. backstabbing. Tongue lashing. This is telenovela at its finest. I cant blame people for watching it. There's this guilty pleasure in seeing Pinoy taboos being shown mercilessly on tv.
On the other hand, i understand people who hate this show too. Seriously, it has no moral values, this is purely for entertainment purposes only. Heck if i were a parent, i would have sent my poor kids to their rooms. couples kissing. bah.
I hate to sound hypocritical but i really think its 'masagwa' to see Pinoy couples french kissing onscreen. I dont think it suites them although i'm aware that Filipino youth has reached that point of sexual awakening. Im conservative at heart though i dont look like it. I guess not everybody's ready for this show yet.
But when is the right time to expose the new Pinoys to the old conservative? I dont know. All i know is that this show, no matter how addictive it may be, doesnt sit well with me.
morality and Political correctness are aging me into a sour wine.

The Blog of the Walking Jukebox
In order to keep things organize, I am not creating (actually, matagal na tong blog na ito) my own soundtrack blog for all the lyrics of my favorite songs.
the Soundtrack of My Life
http://imitation_of_life.blogspot.com
If my life had melody (though im pretty sure it would be out of tune), these are the songs that would clearly describe my experiences and feelings.
it would be great if you could listen to them too.
But that would be wishful thinking.
Enjoy reading.
Its my treat.

Music Gets the Best of Me
Is it just me or is the weather depressing?
I’ve been bumming out the entire day, plastered to the bean bag, eyes glued to the tv screen watching the OC season 2 for the nth weekend. Work related stress has reduced me to a sleep-crazed, immobile, distressed sloth.
Have I told you that I spent last weekend with my orgmates? Yup. T’was a fun, not to mention wild, night. Open bar started early, about 8pm I guess. That’s why everyone was stark raving drunk come 10 pm. When I say everyone, that includes moi. Yup, so what crazy stuff did I do? Hmmm, lemme see.
I TALKED TO A STRANGER.
Yup, I reached rock bottom. Not only did I talk to a stranger, I flirted, gave my number away. In the morning, I was seriously assessing the damage.
10 text messages.
2 invitations to go out.
Nope, not interested. Thank God he stopped texting or else, I have to find some AM-ish way to get out of this mess.
I’m obsessing on a new emo band. I know, I know. Emo didn’t really make it mainstream, thank God. I think it will stay indie for a looong time (which i like because it wont get overrated). That’s why I think nobody knows of this great band, MAE. I love them. I highly recommend this to people who love to lie down on their bean bags, stare at the wall and think endlessly just to prevent their heads from staying blank.
Great songs:
Skyline Drive
Tisbury Lane
Giving it Away
Goodbye, Goodnight
Embers and Envelopes
AM’s raves for the month (I haven’t done this for a long time):
You’re beautiful. James Blunt
Hard To Beat. Hard FI
Under the Weather. KT Tunstall
Perfect Obligation. Myriad
Priceless. Copeland
Coffee. Copeland
Sorry About That. Alkaline Trio
Blue in the Face. Alkaline Trio
Maybe I’m Amazed. Jem
For some reasons unfathomable as of press time, I’ve been constantly thinking about thoushallnotbenamed. These are not thoughts of love reunited, or him kissing the soles of my feet, though that would be nice too. I guess absence makes the heart grow, uhm, stale? I saw him during Grandtrad and I must say, he looked pretty normal to me. Cleaner, if truth be told. Good for him. Good for him.
Newsflash!
I’m falling hard for MTB.
Not good considering we have no future together...
But I just cant stop liking him! As Seth (of the OC) said, it’s like I constantly have to prove that I deserve to be with him. I asked my friend Mamba if I’m too wild for him, and the answer poked me in the eye: He’s too tame for me.
Its not that I’m excessively wrong for him, he’s just excessively RIGHT, in general.
I know I should be cushioning my heart from a hard fall, but I just don’t know how. I’m constantly drawn to him. I feel like a horse with side covers, my eyes only directed on him.
I’m gonna stop obsessing now.
Now, brain, now.
Nope, not functioning.
I swear, work’s not only turning me into a sloth. It’s unfastening already loose screws.
I’m crazy.

Grand Trad!
Bakit kung kelan wala na tayo sa econ, saka dumating ang mga cute boys?
Flamethower and I wondered outside the historical econ building. We had just gone to the Annual Grand Tradition of UP Ecosoc, my home away from home and there we saw guys dressed as girls acting as gays (god, that is soooo confusing).
Anyway, we noticed that most of the contestants were good-looking. Shempre, this is another time to show my hubris to the entire econ community.
one contestant, Ariel of little mermaid, is soooooo effing hot. shempre, he's young but who cares? he actually looked like pauleen luna.
uy, rubbing elbows na kami ni tita Glow.
sandali.. nawawala ang momentum ko.. mustbe the hang over.

I'm Under the Weather...
* This is my song for the day... *
Under the Weather- KT Tunstall
Under this national rain cloud I
'm getting soaked to the skin
Trying to find my umbrella
But I don't know where to begin
And it's simply irrational weather
Can't even hear myself think
Constantly bailing out water
But still like I'm gonna sink
Coz I'm under the weather
Just like the world
So sorry for being so bold
When I turn out the light
You're out of sight
Although I know that I'm not alone
Feels like home
You say you feel like a natural person
You haven't got nothing to hide
So why do you feel imperfection
Cut like a sword in your side
Coz you're under the weather
Just like the world
And I need somebody to hold
When I turn out the light
You're out of sight
Although I know that I'm not alone
Feels like home
Coz I'm under the weather

An Ode to the Man Who Can’t Be Mine
I breathe his name on a misted window
My eyes half opened,
He stood a few feet away from me
Arms akimbo.
He looks at me, but he can’t see me.
I glance and look away,
Hoping I’ll catch his fancy.
Futile, all efforts are futile.
He can never be mine.
We meet in the hallway,
He nods, I smile and bow my head
Hoping and hoping he’ll turn around
And give me a furtive kiss which only we
And only we will know
But still, he will never be mine.
The sound of coffee being poured in a cup
Cut my reverie and brought me back to reality
A truth that I never want to accept
Is a not-so-distant scenery of unrequited love
He rummages through his things oh-so quietly
Like my silent wishes that he’ll be mine
He’ll be mine? No, that can never be.
His computer screen is on.
Blank stares.
My eyes half opened,
He stood a few feet away from me
Arms akimbo.
He looks at me, but he can’t see me.
I glance and look away,
Hoping I’ll catch his fancy.
Futile, all efforts are futile.

S(h) Files: Shirking and Shopping 101
This is so liberating.
I am shirking, loafing, being obliviously unproductive … and I am loving it.
One… two… three… four… five… Yes, I am counting manpower seconds that I am wasting while I make this single pointless post. Nobody’s stopping me, I am free. FREE! FREE!!! (maniacal laugh)
And a spurt of guilt dawned on me.
(silence)
okay, its gone. Whoo, thank God.
In the absence of a topic worthy of discussion, lemme just take this opportunity to thank my not-so-evil friend Flamethrower for taking me out last Saturday. Ten million years after, she finally got her benefits from First Quadrant. Unfortunately, these are only gift certificates and not the ‘networked’ money. She was too lazy to make it work. (disclaimer: you can never make me join these things. I am way too cynical and suspicious for networking). Flamethrower decided to buy a twin jacket as a sign of our twinmanship… I mean, of our friendship pala. She should, mainly because she forced me out of my very comfortable bed just when I am needing as much sleep as possible. She bought a green jacket for me and a violet jacket for her (eggplant na eggplant!). According to her, Violet is the new black… according to her.
After the shopping with a catch, we decided to continue our shopping, or the better term would be window shopping, in Greenhills. We spent 2 hours drooling over hip shirts and new phones, criticizing overly boho dressers, and dreaming of one day being filthy rich that we can buy any clothes we want.
Mamba was supposed to be with us. However, she has more pending concerns she has to attend to.
Flamethrower on the phone: mamba, tara! Greenhills tayo. Kasama ko si Anna banana.
Mamba:D ako pwede. Magpapatanggal ako ng cyst. Next time na lang.
Flamethrower: aaah.. ok. Ingat.
.. You see, I have a dysfunctional circle of friends. They take a cyst operation casually.
During our window shopping, i overheard a funny conversation between a mom and her 7-year old son.
Son: Mommy, pagod na ako maglakad...
Mom: wala akong pakialam sa yo...
I looked over at Flamethrower and she told me..
Flamethrower: Parang nakikita mo na ba ako pag may pamilya na ako?
I am shirking, loafing, being obliviously unproductive … and I am loving it.
One… two… three… four… five… Yes, I am counting manpower seconds that I am wasting while I make this single pointless post. Nobody’s stopping me, I am free. FREE! FREE!!! (maniacal laugh)

okay, its gone.

Mga Kwentong Survivor:the Aftermath
When we were at the safety of Puerto Azul, we got to recount the day's (and night's) misadventures.
Gladys and her boyfriend, who started their descent at 3 pm, started telling us their own gruesome story.
(on our descent)
Ms Gelli (after holding on to a bamboo and the muddy road): book, pengeng alcohol. Nakahawak ata ako ng D'original Pupu.
Book to ms. Dhang: Ano ba yun. di man lang Collette's.
(while stranded in the mountain)
Book to Roxy: Pano ba itong payong na ito?
Roxy on book's futile attempt to open the umbrella: hay naku book, wala kasi nyan sa bundok. (looks around) ay, meron pala.
(while waiting for the rescue team)
SIr ewik's dad on the phone: Ewik, what are your coordinates?
Ewik: ah, dad. nasa bundok kami. ni flashlight wala kaming dala. Anong coordinates?
(on Claud's instant Boyfriend)
lean: may tumawag sa akin. sabi ko sino sha? sabi nya bofriend ako ni clauds, ikaw, sino ka?
Anna banana: kala ko ba wala kang boyfriend?
Clauds: wala nga. nung nasa bundok ako, tinext ko sha..." i love you na, ok? will you now call my friend, Lean and ask for help?"... boyfriend na ba yun?
*hindi na matino ang mga pag iisip namin.*
period.

Pico de Loro 4: Lord of the Flies Special Edition
Lost twice in a vast mountain during a Signal #2 storm. Not bad for a First time climber huh?
Going back to my story (as lengthy as the climb itself), when we finally regrouped, we promised each other that no one would lag behind, targeting me and Ewik who got lost for more than 20 minutes. We couldnt afford it. The light was now disappearing on the horizon. Ika nga sa mga horror films a la shake rattle and roll, "nagaagaw dilim na..."
So with one flashlight in our lead's hand (Sir Andoy), the ten of us walked hand in hand into the dark forest of Pico de Loro.
Kala siguro ni sir ewik, we wont get lost again kaya he started telling me the tale of the two people who got lost in Mount Makiling. They got separated from the pack and eventually, from each other. The guy was able to survive and the girl, well, she was found at the bottom of the mountain, washed away by the stream. Thanks, sir ewik. That was really an appropriate story. So like ours. Now, i dont have to worry about getting left behind because i stupidly fell asleep. Thank you, I wasnt able to sleep. AT ALL.
(sir ewik, if youre reading this, I'm just kidding :) Thinking about it now, it was so much fun getting lost with you) p.s. lang, i have to admit that i have no sense of direction. Naalala ko tuloy, Ewik, Book and I got lost inside the parking lot of Rockwell. NOt a very good team, huh?
Anyway, we stopped at a much larger clearing, which i clearly remember from the hike up. The only problem was, there were two trails. One was going straight ahead, into a much wider clearing. The other one was scarier. It was going down, and you can hear the sound of the stream flowing. The two leaders (sir andoy and Ms. mel) went to both trails to see where they would lead to. Ms. mel kept on saying that we would have to pass by a waterfall but when she went to the sloping-downward trail to the water, there was no sign that there was a waterfall there. Sir Andoy went to the other trail and he said that he saw two cows in that area but no relevant trail. It must have been washed up by the nonstop rain.
After 10 minutes of decision making, still hand in hand like the old logo of UNICEF (or was it World Youth Day? whatever), we opted to take the wider road going to the cows. The rationale was cows= people (or at least someone taking care of the cows). Appararently, it wasnt a person. I actually saw someone in white standing over the cow but after squinting my eyes and looking closer, wala naman pala. If i were the only person who saw it, you may accuse me of telling a kwentong kutsero. Bad thing is, Ms. Gelli and Roxy saw him too. the former even saw him closer... he only had one eye. NGINIIIIIIG!!!
So, after taking the wider trail, we had to retract because after a 5-minute walk, the trail was gone.
HUWAAAA!!! Panic attack.
it was 7 pm. We only had one small (concert purpose) flashlight with us. Even if we didnt get lost, things would still be difficult because of insufficient light. PANO NAMIN MAKIKITA ANG MABABANGIS NA HAYOP? PANO NAMIN MAKIKITA ANG MALALALIM NA BANGIN? PANO NAMIN MAKIKITA ANG MGA NYPHA AT ENCANTADIA SA GUBAT KUNG WALA KAMING ILAW? PANO??? (hysterical scream)
Ayan.. OA mode na ako.
o-k. meron talagang moments of insanity ano?
mabalik tayo sa kwento.
because of these constraints, we had to (HAD TO) stop at the clearing and set camp. Buti na lang at boy scout si sir andoy. He brought a tent with him. At least, may masisilungan kami.
hopeless and unsure of what to do, Ms. Mel volunteered to go back to the base of the peak to ask for help. she saw some guys putting up some tents before we left the area. brave and gentlemanly as he is, sir ewick offered to accompany her.
With only the concert flashlight and a cellphone, they left to take the highway to the ICU, este, peak pala.
Shempre, i didnt want them to go. I dont think that its wise to separate from each other at that point. It was still raining and it was pitch black. After they left, the 8 of us went inside the tent (which, under normal circumstances, can only accommodate 3) and wait til our other friends get help.
I was distressed not because i was scared for my life (although, I was... pero nung sumunod na mga oras na). I was panicking because I was scared for the two who left. I know how it feels to get lost inside the forest. its not in any way fun.
WHen we entered the tent, we started praying the rosary and ended up saying our own prayers as well.
Ms. Gelli: Lord, sorry po talaga. I would never lie to my parents again. (she told her dad that she was going to a conference in tagaytay)
Anna Banana: Lord, I know you're teaching us a lesson. Whatever it is, I'm sure we're learning it. (This experience rekindled my Faith--- but thats another story)
Clauds: Shiiiiiiiiiiit! My battery's getting drained! I need yoosiiiii!!!!
The tent was one of the pivotal items in this trip. WIthout it, we would die of hypothermia. Seriously.
8 pm. we lost all desire to talk. wala na kaming mapagusapan plus we were all frigging tired and worried. imagine the 8 of us, back to back in a cramped position, hugging our legs. We cannot afford to lie down, stretch our legs, nor sleep because we were sitting on a flooded tent. Yes, unhygienic situation. yuck.
9 pm. we finally got a call from Lean through Claud's cell. SHe told us that help was on the way and that 6 mountaineers were going to rescue us. We just have to wait a while because of the weather condition and the darkness.
After that, we rejoiced and started doing the dugtungan game. We dont really mind that our asses are numb. Lalo na sa akin. You can poke my ass with a pitchfork and i probably wouldnt feel a thing. we tried calling Ewik and ms Mel to tell them that help was on the way but they had no signal.
11 pm... What's taking them so long? we had no energy to even make a decent conversation. Only Clauds was still bubbly during that time. bat namin hindi? tinaktak ba naman nya yung isang pakete ng extra joss without water before the climb ano... kaya ayun, hyper kulit.
Clauds (in her super high pitched voice that can cause the eardrums serious damage): If i get ouf of this mountain alive, first thing i will do is SMOKE. JJ, you wet my lighter! how could you? hmm, if we get stuck here forever, sinong kakatay sa baka? Kung gagawing pelikula ang buhay naten ngayon, sinong gaganap na artista sa akin?
and she goes on and on and on... just like the energizer bunny--- a high pitched and cute energizer bunny.
11:30. we got a call from Lean saying..
"the mountaineers cant find the trail. they went down na..."
imagine my depression. It was like the sky has just fallen on us. and literally, it was because our tent was quickly collapsing. We had to get out of the tent with our numbed legs and embraced the chilling wind and strong rain.
it was then that i took the chance to answer the call of nature.. so to speak. (as if i wasnt doing that same exact thing). I asked ms gelli to accompany me so just a few feet from our tent, I took a pee. and she did, and everyone else did. so in effect, we were sitting on our own pee. yuck. pero shempre, hindi naman talaga derecho yun sa tent namin ano. kadiri.
While we were setting up the tent again, we called ewick and mel and finally, they answered. They safely arrived at the other tent at the base of the camp and they were being accommodated by the other mountaineers.
It was only then that i finally heaved a sigh of relief. Thank God they were safe. Now, my brain can accommodate my own scary thoughts on our OWN MISERY.
Anna Banana's thoughts:
we might get kidnapped by the NPA... taken hostage.. shown on TV. Mommy.
wild boar will eat us up. (News flash: when ewik and I got lost, we can actually hear a wild boar snorting from a nearby distance)
we will die from hypothermia. ( I almost did at around 1 am. I started shivering uncontrollably and i incurred a fever... also when Ms, gelli put bengay (alaxan gel pala) all over her body causing all of us to shiver as well)
an aswang will murder us all.
sir ewik might fall into the ground below... (my thoughts constantly wandered around the two.. bakit kaya?:P)
130 pm. we got a call from Lean saying that the she has talked to sir ewik's dad who is an army general and assured us that a rescue team will arrive at dawn to save us.
we called the other two to tell them to rejoin us because its much safer that way. at 2:30 they arrived with the other campers, bringing along their own scary stories as well.
(the flashlight's battery got drained before they got to the other tent. buti na lang malapit na...)
Dun pa lang talaga ako nakahinga ng mabuti.
we ate the other campers' boy siga and ambec's ever reliable rosquillos and went back to our own small spot inside the tent .
630 am. the rain's gone finally. we went out of the tent, stretched our tired legs only to fall once again. Di na sanay sa vertical position.
by 7am, the marines came together with a local to guide us to the right path. there was even a helicopter on stand by in the event that someone wont have the strength to go down.
Buti na lang we're with the general's son.
The trek was hard, as usual. Although the rain was lighter now, I cant help but slide down the muddy slopes. it occurred to me, if we didnt stop by the clearing, someone's bound to get into an accident. The track was scary talaga. Buti na lang at di na namin tinuloy. Mauubos na rin yung ilaw namin at malakas talaga ang ulan that night.
1 1/2 hours later, we saw the highway. Shit, i have never seen a sight more beautiful. Level ground. I could kiss it.
when we got to the DENR station, dun lang nag occur sa akin na mukha na akong batang palaboy. Ang baho na namin (amoy kulob...), our pants never got dry and im sure our undies were at their grossest as well.
Pero kahit na... we got out of Pico de Loro, traumatized but unharmed.
so that's how i spent my weekend. how about you?

Pico de Loro 3: Blunders From Going Under
The descent was pure hell. There was nothing beautiful nor exciting about it. It was in its simplest form, an AGONY.
Imagine this:
I don’t exercise. My legs are so used to walking on high heels that they don’t recognize flat surfaces. Due to work stress, I have turned into a pig. Upon arriving from work, I eat, clean up and go straight to bed. I am not used to the terrain, bad weather brings me down, and I hate bringing a heavy bag.
Then, make me walk for 4 hours straight. Make me feel my sneakers absorbing the mud off the ground. Make me embrace the cold rain and chilling air. Now make me climb a killer mountain.
Yes, the things I had to endure for experience. I pay for Stress.
I almost fell off the cliff when I developed a severe case of cramps while going up (and down) the high wall. Thank God somebody was there to catch me, kundi, Goodbye world na ako.
When I was going up the mountain, I was mumbling to myself, “pano ako bababa?” True enough, one must be equipped with a lot of devil strength to get down.
“anna, mag Four wheel drive ka na lang para makababa ka…”
And I did, all the way.
(Four wheel drive means going down by sitting)
Aaaaaiiiiieeeee!!!
I screamed whenever I would slide down the scary (not to mention muddy) slope. If I didn’t hold on to the “killer bamboo”, I would fall off the side of the cliff. I was fortunate. My friend, Ms Gelli, slid off a longer track and the only thing that prevented her from falling continuously was the split bamboo that caught her chin… Ouch.
After a million near death falls, we finally reached the base of the peak. We can now start the hike going down the mountain (when I say down, it doesn’t mean down… we have to go up, down, up, down, you get the picture), It was past 5… and with a signal #2, that means dark and cold surroundings.
We had to get back to the base camp so that we can finally get the horrible experience done and over with.
Anna banana to Sir Ewick: ang tanging pinangarap ko lang sa hike na ito ay yung Leslie’s sa Tagaytay… Tara, paunahin na naten yung order natin..excited na ako sa Sisig!”
Despite our exhaustion, we didn’t stop to even see the beautiful view of the other mountain. We were just so focused on getting down.
And then we got lost.
We had to stop at a small clearing.
Shall we turn right? Left? Straight ahead?
With no other visible trail than the right trail, we went ahead, despite our silent reservations.
Ten minutes into the trail (and no sights of our groupies), I started panicking. The path was getting darker and darker. The bamboos that were catching our skin were getting sharper and sharper. When we got to the “masukal” part of the forest, I told sir ewick that I don’t remember going into that place.
That’s when I started running toward the other direction.
And once again, the small clearing.
Buti na lang, smart si ewik. He remembered that we took all right turns going up kaya we should now find all paths going left.
True enough, there was an invisible trail on the left, shrouded by the tall bushes. Despite showing off my clumsy side (anna, okay ka lang? tulungan na kita sa bag mo- ewik offered), I held on to dear faith and walked quickly as I shouted my friends’ names on top of my voice.
After 15 minutes of walking, my hope was slipping away. The hardest part was when we arrived at another crossroad. We were, just like the cult series, LOST.
That’s when I asked sir ewik to get his phone and call the others. Just our luck, there was no signal. And that’s when we saw that it was already past 6 pm.
We just had to use our sense of intuition to choose the right path and luckily, after another 10 minutes, we saw them standing at the stream.
Now together with the pack, we breathed a sigh of relief and held on to each other’s hands. Wala nang hiwalayan ito, kahit pa mukha kaming mga paper dolls.
We thought the hardest part was over. Well, think again.
We lost the trail. Again.

Haaaaaay- This is the Sound of Unsettling
I am so hating my work right now.
My appetite/ drive to work is getting frayed every second.
Iamthisclosetoresigning.
It’s not that I hate the job per se. I just don’t think that this is the right job for me. There are times when I would go to the bathroom to sleep. True Story. There are times when I feel like pulling all my hair out of frustration. True story. There are times when I feel like bashing my head on the computer screen. True story.
It makes me wonder how I lasted this long.
(Long Pause)
Maybe it’s the company (the group, not the firm) I am keeping that is making me stay for as long as my sanity holds me. I sooo love my team mates and I couldn’t have asked for a better set of first - office friends than them. Although I knew immediately that this is not a long term job for me, I never thought that I would give up on it within barely 5 months of working.
My job is hard – hard, at this point, an abysmal understatement. Being used to a dynamic, anything-goes environment, I deteriorate in structures and formalities. I find it so hard following and keeping up with the most minute details. They are killing me, these small niceties, little by little--- like a blunt razor blade slashing my veins.
However, I don’t like to border on the negative because if truth be told, I have gotten, ahem, am getting a lot out of this suffering than I would have expected in the first place.
*Great Team*
I am not only saying this because I am part of it. I am saying this, in all its chutzpah glory; we are indeed the best team here in XXXXXXXXX. In this regard, I would like to acknowledge my team mates for always supporting me and making me feel like I’m part of the family. Despite of my constant heavy sighs (which depresses the hell out of Ambec), my incessant chatters, my parasitic nature when it comes to toiletries, I have never felt more at home with them.
*Above Average Crushables*
When I say above average, I don’t pertain to Godlike/ Adonis-like guys. These are guys who have “excessive” qualities that border on the inhuman. I actually have two. The first one is overly old (I mean for me… duh?)… overly unreachable and overly virile. The other one, with a tinge of blood in my cheeks, is undoubtedly the most ‘religious’ guy in the planet. The frustrating part is that he has no plans of entering priesthood but has no plans of entering womanhood, este, the world with significant others either. Ting, my love life is nonexistent, thanks to guys like them.
*Foster Friends*
You don’t have to know a person for more than a year to realize he is worthy to keep for a lifetime. Getting stranded in the mountains does the trick. Just like the concept of the reality Shows i.e. Survivor, Big Brother, people tend to show their real colors once they undergo extremely difficult situations. In our case, the colors they showed were all in the purple/blue/ pink hemisphere--- and in my color-coded guide book, those are really positive colors. (They actually tinker on the periwinkles and lavenders---- really, really positive colors)
Right now, they are the only thing that keeps my work wheel rolling (apart from the vision of 5 pm and the pay on the 15th and 30th). I have a lot to thank them for, the continuation of my so-called life included. That’s why if you try to take away my sunshine i.e. Pico de Loro (PDL) friends, I’ll claw your eyes out, pluck out all your nose hair, do an open- heart surgery without anesthesia and using a rusting bread knife. Yes, that’s how close we are.
Okay, so I only mentioned three perks. I know there’s more (like the free Guylian chocolate I got for free from one of my clients) but I’d rather not mention them for the sake of consistency because, well… the point of this entry is to drill into this odd head of mine that I don’t like to work here anymore.
Im changing my mind… im almost liking it… Yes, I think I’m loving my work again! Hello paper work! Hello sticker paper! Hello to folding and inserting!
Whooops, sarcasm is taking over.
That was my futile attempt to joke about this entire resignation thing.
I still hate it. But I guess writing about it makes the burden less more gruesome than I thought. As a matter of fact, its becoming more… bearable.
Come Monday, I have to decide what I’ll do next. Will I throw in the towel? Will I just wait until the company vomits me out of orbit? Will I or will I not make a decision? Come Monday… Come Monday is Doomsday.

Pico De Loro 2: Climb every Mountain
Nature must love me. During the climb up the peak, I got closely acquainted with various life forms. There are the ants whose habitat I almost locked lips with, the cow with the guide that wasn’t there (kakatakot!), the bamboo which I held on to for dear life only to learn after that it’s a cactus in disguise, and of course the i-cant-see-you-but-i-know-you’re-there wild boar.
Seriously, what happened to us is something smack out of a disaster movie. It was surreal, frightening, amusing and crazily beautiful.
the Pico de Loro Experience:
Ms. mel: Kaya naten yang akyatin in 45 minutes. tapos, photo op lang tayo for 15 minutes. Baba kaagad tayo para hindi tayo abutan ng dilim
Yes, knowing me, i wouldnt pass the chance to have my picture taken especially in a different background other than my room.
"kaya ko to! I just have to believe in myself. I am not a quitter!!!"
Ok, i didnt really say that in a !!! manner... steady lang.
malay ko ba.. i wasnt aware that i could put my one sem in PE class (Sports Climbing) to good use. DI ko ren naman kasi pinangarap. MALAY KO BANG LITERAL NA GAGAPANGIN KO YUNG BUNDOK? NA LALAMUTAKIN KO YUNG PUTIK? NA KAKAPIT AKO SA UGAT NG PUNO AT MATINIK NA KAWAYAN?
But then again, ignorance of the law (or an itinerary) is never an excuse.
where was I?
oh yes, the climb to the peak.
During the climb to the neverending trail going to the peak, I almost fell straight into the ravine. Bakit? kasi, i unwittingly held on to a budding bamboo tree. If you're a nature lover like myself (ooows?), you would know that this small, fragile looking tree/ stem is a killer in disguise. It has small pointy- bigote like thorns that stick to your skin. Yes, it hurts big time. So just imagine the pain i had to incur when i almost pulled (okay fine, when i pulled) the stem. Aray!
Plus, i was at the front of the pack... Sir Andoy told me to climb up first so that he can help me in case i fall down again. there was no one in front of me, no one behind me. the rest of them were still climbing to the top. Eh ako, ang hilig kasing mag magaling.
Imagine, moi, climbing a mountain at a 110% angle ( i suck at geometry.. or is it trigo?). Seems impossible? i thought so too. As ms. tetchi once said, kung pagdudugtungin ko lang lahat ng mura ko *during the climb*, umabot na yung hanggang hell.
Finally, i slowed down a bit and waited for my friends to appear. They were there, but not all of them. Jen and her BF had already aborted the climb because it was the wisest thing to do. hehe. actually, James the boyfriend's knee was already swollen.
As i continued on to the perpetual hike, the way seemed to be getting harder and harder. at the back of my head, i was thinking, Iwould never get out of here alive.
yes, the Holy team (always huli) finally caught up with the team Inhuman (sa bilis mag climb) and that was the sign that we were reaching the peak. I had to literally climb a slidy rock as large as a wall in order to get to it.
So, that was the peak. Ok, interesting.
Nah, i couldnt appreciate it one bit. Who would? it was raining hard, I was bloody tired, the place was cramped (pati ba naman sa bundok, may people traffic?), and i was still fussing on how to go down. We took some pictures (thank God we can still smile) and descended to hell, I mean down the peak.

ooooh, HUBRIS. Big word.
Actually, i dont need photos to show my 'hubris". I am a self- confessed arrogant twit (most of the time, a narcissist) and i knew that all along. I even make them topics of my posts.
But thanks for telling me something i already know, i appreciate it. REALLY.

The Pico de Loro Experience: A Beautiful Disaster Part !
I never thought I could get out of there alive.
Last night, I spent the best, most horrifying moment of my life. Other near death experiences pale in comparison with what my officemates and I went through while climbing Pico de Loro. I swear I dont want to see, hear, talk about any mountain for the next couple of years.
We never should have pushed through with the climb in the first place. Who in his right mind would climb a mountain with a Signal #2 weather? Apparently, right mind is what our gang lacks.
“ano nga ulit yung Plan B?” I asked Bookie while waiting for the others to arrive in our meeting place in front of our office building.
“May bagyo eh.. Leslie’s na lang tayo! Rent a house tapos inuman magdamag.”
The mention of Tagaytay and Beer should have been enough to entice me to abort the mission. Plus, the weather was not very pleasing as well. Just when we were about to suggest the perfect plan B, Sir Andoy came back.
“Tara, wala na talagang atrasan! Rain or shine na talaga ito”
Uh-oh.
I went along with Sir Andoy, Ms. Gelli and Sir Ewick kaya soooobrang enjoy ang road trip namin. We were singing along old songs like Kaleidoscope World, Huling El Bimbo and other great 90’s songs.
We never expected the things that would happen when we get to Pico de Loro.
“ambec, classic ang look mo! Whaddup dog?
Ambec, my worst/best seatmate ever, was wearing a “Seth cohen Shirt” Long sleeves topped with a short sleeved shirt and army cut off pants. Kulang na lang, bling blings and she could pass as a member of Murder Inc. Tapos, she even wore her “poncho”/ garbage bag raincoat which steered great laughs from both Ms. Gelli and me. Little did we know that that was the best article of clothing to wear for that kind of a thing.
Wow, mountain. Ayos, nature lovers.
Twenty minutes into the hike, I was sweating like a pig and my shoes were absorbing as much mud that they can possibly handle. Now it was Ambec’s turn to laugh.
After 45 minutes, we arrived at the Base Camp which is short for Pico de Loro’s Gate of Hell. We ate our lunches and continued with our trek. We were 3 hours behind our schedule.
Then it started raining. Great, at least my shoes were not the only pair that was soaked heavily. The water-proof jacket Ms. Gelli lent me was, well, not as water proof as I wanted it to be. As a matter of fact, it was absorbing all the rain water like a sponge. Nyiiii, im wearing foamless sports bra! I don’t want a clean, PG 13- hike to look like a photo shoot for FHM. I mean me with the “not bad” boobs, perky nipples and wet hair. Nope, definitely not invoking positive feelings from me.
“are we there yet?” I asked after 3 hours of continuous walk. This time, I was looking less FMH-y but more Smokey Mountain-y.
“siguro mga isang oras na lang”
“sige, antayin ko na lang yung isang oras dito “they laughed but inside my head, a voice was telling me to run for the other direction.

disclaimers
To ebtg (everything but the girl?)- contrary to popular belief (and my OA kwento and drama with regard to my love life), I am technically a member of NBSB (no boyfriends since birth) club...
I cannot explain how it happened or rather, how it did not happen, but believe me when i say that I was never someone's bitch... hehe.
Aaron: maybe all of them are true... or maybe im just stretching my imagination too far. I wish I really knew why at this stage ini life I'm still single or why no single/married/ breathing male is lurking within a meter's distance.
... if this goes on indefinitely, i would be scraping the bottom i.e. begging for a guy to take over my life...
*Of course, anyone who knows me will definitely know that the world will disintegrate first before this happens.*
I'm just waiting for today to happen.
