I think I just might be brain dead.
My brain’s not functioning as it should be. I have lost all desire to write anything of value (including this post).
How could I become I writer if I get mental blocks all the time?
Trivia! Trivia!
I used to dream about being a writer. I think that it was one of the more “realistic” dream jobs I had growing up. I was never the type who wished to have the normal job. I never wanted to be a doctor, a teacher, a boss or any other occupation most kids would normally like. MY childhood play-up/ dress-up would be that of the resident labandera, with her unruly hair and tube top. Or maybe that of the demure nun, in all her penguin suit (as seen from the hit movie, Sister Act). But my favorite role would be that of the “glamorous” manicurista/ hairdresser/ makeup artist (as you can deduce, I have a penchant for being gay). I guess that’s where I learned of my useless talent, braiding my own hair (but not others).
An article of mine was published when I was in first year college. It was all about the youth misunderstood. I don’t remember on what magazine it was published but it felt really great knowing that other people (aside from your friends, teachers, parents) are reading your article. It’s as if you connect with the rest of the world.
I had that feeling every time people would tell me they find my materials funny, inspiring, interesting. Talk about ego- boosting. I guess that’s the part that used to drive me into taking Journalism in college. Somewhere along the way, however, I just lost all the passion. Suddenly, I cant think of anything useful to say. I think that was some time in high school when I took up Creative Writing as my elective. My teacher, lets call him Dr. Evil (because he looks like the character), used to say that I had a lot of potential. Great style, witty remarks, but I’m too tamad to do anything. I remember his favorite article of mine was actually about the power of “metaphor”. I wrote something about two people having sex but I never mentioned the words sex, lovemaking, kissing or other words that would normally pertain to anything sexual. Sexual creature that he is, he appreciated the article so much he even read it in class (that embarrassed the hell out of me). Now, I wonder where all my articles have gone. Sayang. I know if I only saved all of them, I could have published my first ever book. Even two, I guess.
Anyway, by giving a trivia, I now have a complete post that actually means something! This is not gibberish after all.

Monday. Mundane. Mayday.
There are songs in my head that will clearly depict my current state of mind/affairs this morning.
SMILE LIKE YOU MEAN IT- the Killers
My day started out with tales from the party I didn’t attend. Don’t you just hate it when you get bombarded with stories that you can’t relate to? Not that I care, really. I never wanted to go in the first place because of several reasons which I like to clear out to the public, in an effort to avoid self- incrimination.
1. Budgetary constraints- I am flat broke, which, if you know me, is no longer a surprise. Considering my impulse behavior on shopping, I’m amazed that I’m not begging in the streets.
2. I miss my family- after the near death experience in Pico de Loro, I realized the meaning of the adage “live each day as if it were your last”. Now, I relish every moment spent with my kin. Its funny, I guess I’ve aged a lot since I started working. I don’t go out much, and if I do go out, I retire to bed early (when I say early, I mean 1 am- ish).
3. have I mentioned budgetary constraints?
I really wanted to have my day at the beach. Independent of some factors (which I’d rather not mention), I know that I would have enjoyed basking in the sun, taking pictures of myself and the calm waters and eating like there’s no tomorrow. But then again, tough times.
Going back to my story, it’s causing my face some serious damage forcing myself to smile and stay interested in stories which I have no frigging idea about. Feigning interest is a debacle in itself. Don’t force it.
I DON’T LIKE MONDAYS- Tori Amos
I really think that Monday should not be considered as a part of the work week.
Here are my points:
1. It’s impossible for people to go to work on time. The temptation of going back to your oh-so- comfortable bed is more enticing than the ugly sight of your pending paper work. It’s a common law of physics that the gravitational pull of the bed is stronger on Mondays. Never combat the laws of physics.
2. Traffic’s a bitch. It seems that people have the same thing in mind when they opted to put off the alarm clock for 5, 10, 15 more minutes. Now, everybody seems to be going to work at the same time causing colossal traffic that will force you to go back home (to your comfy bed) or be late at work.
3. Nobody’s productive on a Monday. It’s a given. Everybody will still be thinking about the weekend, what they did and what they wish they had done thus not focusing on the work at hand. Employees will be grouchy (for interrupting their weekend reverie/ fantasies), slow (probably because of the hang over), and totally absent minded (because their minds are off to where their bodies should be).
Thus, in order to decrease employee unproductiveness (I checked this on thesaurus, this is correct) and increase morale, working on Mondays should be optional, if not totally abolished.
I JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF- White Stripes
Once again, I am using company time to rant and update my blog. Although this is quite liberating, the cachet wears off after several hours of staring at your computer screen & faking toxicity. I had to centralize (organize my things) and decentralize (putting them back to disarray) just so that people wont accuse me of wasting manpower hours (which is actually true). I am not complaining, just hoping that I will not pay for it dearly. Knowing my luck, the chances of bad/ improbable things happening are HUGE. SO I’m guessing that the universe will eventually amass all my debts i.e. slacking off at work and I will end up in the streets with no job, maybe with a lawsuit even.
5 pm.
Time to go. Come to think of it, I’ve been nursing this post for the entire day.

Cradle Snatching & Hubris Showing

in fairness, bagay sila

Si Flamethrower at ang younger version ng crush ni flamethrower dati.. C.M.

pogi nitong batang to.

haaaay, itong batang to.. sayang, iho, di kita naabutan

exploited ka ngayon.. hehe.
at mga pictures during Adhoc event

sa banyo nagpicture-an

feeling!

sa MRT kami nito.. galing ano?

partida! naka Tshirt lang ako!
at pictures nung bday ko..

mukhang basahan na ako.. galing pa ako sa office.

oily kung oily

ang baba ng damit ko pero look at my bones! they're protruding! anorexic na ako.
...
huwaaaa! gusto ko ren mag sembreak..
Ayan, missing college na naman.
Isang kwentong shallow:
Never use cheap curlashes. bakit? kasi my old, ugly and dysfunctional curlash just chopped a portion of my lashes. pero ok lang, kasi di naman mashadong halata.
*trial and error naman talaga ang trabaho*
i told my friend Wonder Girl. Somehow, i find that true. Ika nga namin ni Mamba, its like everybody hates his first job. Andun kasi yung realization na work is not what you expect it to be. true true.
i dont know. im getting bored at my current job. i need a more dynamic environment. ayoko ng stagnant. ayoko ng routine. right now, im just finding everything i dont want, not necessarily what i want.
and my thoughts reverted back to him.
last time i was with him, i had to fight the urge to get a piece of fallen eyelash from his face. that would have been weird if i did it.
i dont know if my friends noticed, but my hair has grown into un-AM-ly proportion.
ang haba ng buhok ko, and i meant that literally. Sana nga figuratively but nooooooo!
ayan, muling nagbalik na naman ang isip ko sa kanya.
will somebody save me from MTB thoughts?
They're about to kill me.

Pinoy Big Brouhaha
I think im the only person not watching Pinoy Big Brother.
Most people i know have strong opinions on this new hit show by ABS CBN. its either they love it or totally hate it. I, on the otherhand, have none.
I would like to be objective on the issue so i tried watching, eavesdropping, reading about it. In fairness, the show has a lot of addictive substance to it. There's an FHM model babe who says DUDE like there's no tomorrow. There's the Middle Eastern expat who talks funny and acts even funnier. There's the teacher who nobody cares about. The flamboyantly flirty girl, the handsome toothpaste model and other interesting characters. And yes, there's "big brother" who tries in vain to remain anonymous/ mysterious. There's no point actually, considering everybody knows he's Lauren Dyogi anyway.
So aside from making fun of the housemates (making them wear Showgirl costumes, whats up with that?), what else does this show do?
Just like any other reality shows, Pinoy Big Brother reveals how people act when they know they're being watched, and how they act when they think that nobody's watching.
True colors. The 21st Century Filipinos. Lots of kissing, Sex innuendo 24/7. backstabbing. Tongue lashing. This is telenovela at its finest. I cant blame people for watching it. There's this guilty pleasure in seeing Pinoy taboos being shown mercilessly on tv.
On the other hand, i understand people who hate this show too. Seriously, it has no moral values, this is purely for entertainment purposes only. Heck if i were a parent, i would have sent my poor kids to their rooms. couples kissing. bah.
I hate to sound hypocritical but i really think its 'masagwa' to see Pinoy couples french kissing onscreen. I dont think it suites them although i'm aware that Filipino youth has reached that point of sexual awakening. Im conservative at heart though i dont look like it. I guess not everybody's ready for this show yet.
But when is the right time to expose the new Pinoys to the old conservative? I dont know. All i know is that this show, no matter how addictive it may be, doesnt sit well with me.
morality and Political correctness are aging me into a sour wine.

The Blog of the Walking Jukebox
In order to keep things organize, I am not creating (actually, matagal na tong blog na ito) my own soundtrack blog for all the lyrics of my favorite songs.
the Soundtrack of My Life
http://imitation_of_life.blogspot.com
If my life had melody (though im pretty sure it would be out of tune), these are the songs that would clearly describe my experiences and feelings.
it would be great if you could listen to them too.
But that would be wishful thinking.
Enjoy reading.
Its my treat.

Music Gets the Best of Me
Is it just me or is the weather depressing?
I’ve been bumming out the entire day, plastered to the bean bag, eyes glued to the tv screen watching the OC season 2 for the nth weekend. Work related stress has reduced me to a sleep-crazed, immobile, distressed sloth.
Have I told you that I spent last weekend with my orgmates? Yup. T’was a fun, not to mention wild, night. Open bar started early, about 8pm I guess. That’s why everyone was stark raving drunk come 10 pm. When I say everyone, that includes moi. Yup, so what crazy stuff did I do? Hmmm, lemme see.
I TALKED TO A STRANGER.
Yup, I reached rock bottom. Not only did I talk to a stranger, I flirted, gave my number away. In the morning, I was seriously assessing the damage.
10 text messages.
2 invitations to go out.
Nope, not interested. Thank God he stopped texting or else, I have to find some AM-ish way to get out of this mess.
I’m obsessing on a new emo band. I know, I know. Emo didn’t really make it mainstream, thank God. I think it will stay indie for a looong time (which i like because it wont get overrated). That’s why I think nobody knows of this great band, MAE. I love them. I highly recommend this to people who love to lie down on their bean bags, stare at the wall and think endlessly just to prevent their heads from staying blank.
Great songs:
Skyline Drive
Tisbury Lane
Giving it Away
Goodbye, Goodnight
Embers and Envelopes
AM’s raves for the month (I haven’t done this for a long time):
You’re beautiful. James Blunt
Hard To Beat. Hard FI
Under the Weather. KT Tunstall
Perfect Obligation. Myriad
Priceless. Copeland
Coffee. Copeland
Sorry About That. Alkaline Trio
Blue in the Face. Alkaline Trio
Maybe I’m Amazed. Jem
For some reasons unfathomable as of press time, I’ve been constantly thinking about thoushallnotbenamed. These are not thoughts of love reunited, or him kissing the soles of my feet, though that would be nice too. I guess absence makes the heart grow, uhm, stale? I saw him during Grandtrad and I must say, he looked pretty normal to me. Cleaner, if truth be told. Good for him. Good for him.
Newsflash!
I’m falling hard for MTB.
Not good considering we have no future together...
But I just cant stop liking him! As Seth (of the OC) said, it’s like I constantly have to prove that I deserve to be with him. I asked my friend Mamba if I’m too wild for him, and the answer poked me in the eye: He’s too tame for me.
Its not that I’m excessively wrong for him, he’s just excessively RIGHT, in general.
I know I should be cushioning my heart from a hard fall, but I just don’t know how. I’m constantly drawn to him. I feel like a horse with side covers, my eyes only directed on him.
I’m gonna stop obsessing now.
Now, brain, now.
Nope, not functioning.
I swear, work’s not only turning me into a sloth. It’s unfastening already loose screws.
I’m crazy.

Grand Trad!
Bakit kung kelan wala na tayo sa econ, saka dumating ang mga cute boys?
Flamethower and I wondered outside the historical econ building. We had just gone to the Annual Grand Tradition of UP Ecosoc, my home away from home and there we saw guys dressed as girls acting as gays (god, that is soooo confusing).
Anyway, we noticed that most of the contestants were good-looking. Shempre, this is another time to show my hubris to the entire econ community.
one contestant, Ariel of little mermaid, is soooooo effing hot. shempre, he's young but who cares? he actually looked like pauleen luna.
uy, rubbing elbows na kami ni tita Glow.
sandali.. nawawala ang momentum ko.. mustbe the hang over.

I'm Under the Weather...
* This is my song for the day... *
Under the Weather- KT Tunstall
Under this national rain cloud I
'm getting soaked to the skin
Trying to find my umbrella
But I don't know where to begin
And it's simply irrational weather
Can't even hear myself think
Constantly bailing out water
But still like I'm gonna sink
Coz I'm under the weather
Just like the world
So sorry for being so bold
When I turn out the light
You're out of sight
Although I know that I'm not alone
Feels like home
You say you feel like a natural person
You haven't got nothing to hide
So why do you feel imperfection
Cut like a sword in your side
Coz you're under the weather
Just like the world
And I need somebody to hold
When I turn out the light
You're out of sight
Although I know that I'm not alone
Feels like home
Coz I'm under the weather

An Ode to the Man Who Can’t Be Mine
I breathe his name on a misted window
My eyes half opened,
He stood a few feet away from me
Arms akimbo.
He looks at me, but he can’t see me.
I glance and look away,
Hoping I’ll catch his fancy.
Futile, all efforts are futile.
He can never be mine.
We meet in the hallway,
He nods, I smile and bow my head
Hoping and hoping he’ll turn around
And give me a furtive kiss which only we
And only we will know
But still, he will never be mine.
The sound of coffee being poured in a cup
Cut my reverie and brought me back to reality
A truth that I never want to accept
Is a not-so-distant scenery of unrequited love
He rummages through his things oh-so quietly
Like my silent wishes that he’ll be mine
He’ll be mine? No, that can never be.
His computer screen is on.
Blank stares.
My eyes half opened,
He stood a few feet away from me
Arms akimbo.
He looks at me, but he can’t see me.
I glance and look away,
Hoping I’ll catch his fancy.
Futile, all efforts are futile.
